Counselling is a process of self discovery and exploration. It usually takes place at weekly intervals and each session is 50 minutes in length. The work may be short term or open ended, to allow time and space to begin to explore and consider deep seated issues. This will all be subject to discussion between us at the beginning when we first meet.

- I use the psychodynamic method. This means looking
at how the past affects the present
- I will work with you to increase your self-awareness, explore the unconscious and open up the possibility of making profound personal changes
- I have assisted many people in either reducing or,
when it felt right, stopping drinking if that is a problem
- I am fully qualified and registered with the UK's leading professional bodies
|
- I offer an exploratory session free of charge so you can decide whether it’s right for you
- Clients can come to me directly and do not need a referral from a GP
- My fee range varies but starts at £40 for a 50 minute sessions
- I'm very sensitive to the financial worries that many of my clients are experiencing and I have a number of spaces available at reduced fees to those on low incomes or out of work.

Individual Therapy
My training as a therapist allows me to work in a number of ways, always taking into account the needs of each individual. As a first step I encourage a long opening assessment, which gives time for me to found out about you and what it is that you are hoping to address. It is a time too for you to decide whether you are comfortable working with me. This consultation will lead to discussion about the appropriate therapy, whether long term or short term, and may be my referring you to another organisation or individual who I believe is better suited to provide you with what you need.
It is usual practice to meet once weekly at the same time each week.
With individuals struggling with addiction, for example, this regularity of contact is an important part of the process.
Services to businesses:
I provide support to both private and public sector organisations, giving their employees a place to come and discuss problems at work outside the workplace. Problems might include stress, bullying, disciplinary problems, relationships at work, but could also include depression, anxiety, and matters of confidentiality that can be resolved without the fear of the damage this might cause to career prospects. At the moment, redundancy and the threat of redundancy are causing real fears that need to be addressed.
For the companies, absenteeism is hugely costly and reducing this is beneficial both to the needs of the corporations as well as of benefit to the individuals concerned.
Workshops
We have developed a series of workshops to complement our provision of services to the corporate sector. Starting with a workshop on redundancy, in particular the emotional impact of redundancy, we have also developed a workshop on stress in the workplace. Designed for up to 25 individuals, the workshops can be helpful in providing a place where individuals who may be feeling isolated and cut off since losing employment, can come together and find new confidence and motivation from the experience.
The day long workshops are designed to encourage individuals to brainstorm together, work as teams, take risks and find solutions and new ideas that they can take away with them at the end of the day.
The focus is on understanding the emotional impact of redundancy but explores the difficulties of change and provide practical tools to help individuals in their search for new work. The aim is to provide a highly creative and stimulating environment that you cam only find in a group of people, to energise and encourage individuals to consider options that at the start of the day may have felt out of reach.
